As a Sweeny ISD employee, you will have a primary purpose to:
Responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the teacher for whom he/she is substituting and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in district policies. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Sweeny ISD.

- Substitute applicants need only complete one application, substitute teacher or substitute special education aide. Only one application will be processed per applicant. The application will remain active for the 2023-2024 school year.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Minimum of 48 college semester hours OR
- Paraprofessional Assessment of Competencies Test (PAC Test)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Other:
- Completion of district substitute orientation
- Substitutes must be fingerprinted and are required to pass the background check. Employment with Sweeny ISD is based on having an acceptable criminal history.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Instructional Strategies:
- Follow lesson plans left by the teacher for whom he/she is substituting in accordance with the district’s philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at times designated
- Classroom Management and Organization:
- Establish and maintain order in the classroom
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board Policies
- Communications:
- Cooperate with school personnel
- Report to the principal or his/her designee at the beginning and end of the school day

- Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
